Orchestral Fireworks 5th November 2016:
The Worcester Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Neil Aston in this concert of romantic classics. We begin with Humperdinck’s magical overture to Hansel and Gretel. Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks adds a seasonal touch. The orchestra is joined by soprano Claire White-McKay to perform Elgar’s delightful Sea Pictures. The concert finishes with a performance of the ever-popular Symphony No 3 (Eroica) by Beethoven.
Gala Concert 8th January 2017:
Welcome in the new year with the Worcester Philharmonic Orchestra and their traditional New Year’s Gala Concert. This concert is a wonderful musical selection including Mozart Symphony No. 40, and world famous waltzes, polkas and marches of Austria, with music by Lehar and Strauss. The soprano, Katie Leaver, joins the orchestra in a selection of music to evoke emotions of warmth, romance and passion.
Spring Classics: March 11 2017:
The Worcester Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Neil Aston celebrates spring in a concert of popular classics. The concert starts with the overture ‘Le Carnaval Romain’ by Berlioz and continues with Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, performed by Shula Oliver. The concert finishes with Brahm’s Symphony No.1.
Pershore Proms: June 10th 2017:
A rousing programme of patriotic classics including works by Vaughan Williams (Wasps Overture, Greensleeves and The Lark Ascending) and Elgar (Nursery Suite and all 5 Pomp and Circumstance marches). It concludes in the traditional way with Henry Wood Sea Songs and Jerusalem. Come and sing along!
