New Hanley History

In June 2010 a new illustrated history of the parish of Hanley Castle was published by The Hanleys’ Village Society. The Hanleys: A History of Hanley Castle and Hanley Swan by Malcolm Fare contains 150 illustrations and many accounts of what life was like in the villages in the past. Continue reading

Pond Restoration

By 2006 the pond at Hanley Swan was in a sorry state. Over 100 ducks, half a dozen geese and assorted moorhens were causing serious problems of pollution and erosion, since vegetation had little chance to get established before being eaten. Continue reading

The Bells of St Gabriel’s
