Village Show (2018)

This Year’s Show

After the stunning success of last year’s show, brought on by unusually lovely Bank Holiday weather, the committee is hopeful this year will be the same!

We are hoping to have the stalls and events on the main Village Hall Car Park as last year, as this proved very popular. If you want a stall to sell produce, crafts or anything else that will be of interest to those coming to the show, please contact a committee member to discuss.

We award a lot of trophies at the show, and many of these have long family associations with the community. However, we consider that some of the older cups have criteria that are not wholly inclusive of all the entrants to the show. We recognise that we draw in many people beyond the Hanley’s, and therefore have withdrawn those who were only to apply to Hanley residents.

We will retain them, and perhaps rotate them over the years, so that they are not lost from the show. We are hoping to identify a location where we may be able to display our cups, as we have a few others that have been “retired” but we do not wish to lose sight of them.

We have been kindly donated two new trophies this year, reflecting the next generation of families long associated with the show. Owen Evans is donating a cup for the best vegetable exhibit, and the Chadd family is donating a silver plate to recognise the best pastry in the cookery section, as Barbara Chadd was a very keen baker.

The Car Boot

The annual clear out of your garage and loft is always popular. The cost is £7 a boot. Access to the field on Saturday for Car Boots is from 12.00 onwards – but please remember the show itself opens at 1.30pm.

Teas and Cakes

Wonderful refreshments and home-made cakes will be available from 1.00 pm onwards courtesy of the kind volunteers from the Hanley Castle WI.

Can you help?

The committee are always extremely grateful f« any help you can offer in running the show, helping in the hall, selling raffle tickets, or assisting in the administration. Please contact any of the committee if you are able to help, even for an hour or so on Friday afternoon when we set the hall up, or on Saturday.
