Village Show (2015)

63nd Hanley Swan and Hanley Castle Village Show
& Car Boot

August Bank Holiday weekend – Saturday 29th August 2015

Doors open at 1.30 pm

We are looking forward to one of the major social events in the village calendar, as we prepare for the show once again. Having listened to feedback from visitors last year, we have reduced the cost of visiting the show to 75p for adults and children are still free. We would stress however that this is a non-profit making event, but it costs quite a lot to stage. The money taken at the door, and what we raise through the raffle and teas, goes to ensuring we can stage the show each year.

After last year’s success the Plant Stall will be here again this year, where we sell donated plants and produce. So if you can’t face eating another runner bean by that time, and have a few to spare, your donations of either produce or plants would be very welcome. These can be left at the Village Hall on either the Friday afternoon or the Saturday morning of the show.

New for this Year

We have offered those who sell at the cafe market, an opportunity to come and provide some extra stalls for visitors to browse. We also hope to have a local group of musicians, 4Tunes, to provide us with some music to entertain.

We are always looking to display our local talent at the show so this year we thought we would extend this to look for our own literary talent. We are trialing a “poetry” category. Any limerick you have written yourself that would delight our visitors can be entered. No theme, just whatever inspires you!

The Car Boot is on!

The annual clear out of your garage and loft is as popular as ever. The cost is £7 a boot. Access to the field on Saturday for Car Boots is from 12.00 noon onwards – but please remember the show itself opens at 1.30 pm.

Teas and Cakes

Wonderful refreshments and home-made cakes will be available from 13.00 onwards courtesy of the kind volunteers from the Hanley Castle WI.

Can you help?

The committee are always extremely grateful for any help you can offer in running the show, helping in the hall, selling raffle tickets, or assisting in the administration. Please contact any of the committee if you are able to help, even for an hour or so on Friday afternoon when we set the hall up, or on Saturday.

Entry Forms

Entries can be passed to any of the committee members, by the end of Thursday 27th August 2015, or handed in to Grange Farm Nurseries, Guarlford Road, Guarlford.
